Hi friends, I am back from my first week at IIM Ahmedabad. I studied at the Creative and Cultural Businesses Programme 5 years ago, and got an opportunity to work for the course. The current cohort has interesting entrepreneurial ideas:
Their ideas are interesting, but the people behind the ideas are even more interesting.
What makes the program more unique: the faculty. Each of the professors have a signature teaching style. No one is like another. We use a case study methodology at IIMA. Students need to read a case, the scenarios are analysed, assessed, observed and researched. We had the privilege of attending Prof Saral Mukherjee’s lecture. He teaches a toast subject like operations strategy: supply chain, forecasting, logistics. But the way he teaches it is like an artist. He makes the students watch a film: Jiro Dreams of Sushi. And we analysed the case based on the film. He makes everyone sing at the end of his class, which becomes an anthem for the course. Some of the students become reflective, some others experienced their aha, and some poured buckets of tears. Imagine getting a standing ovation for a lecture!! Prof Saral Mukherjee is a master storyteller. He takes his students through a journey. From their world into his world. Each segment of his lecture plays out like a film, moving from scene to scene. You follow the character, you follow the journey, and in the end, “you find yourself as the main character”.There is so much focus on original thinking and originality of the founder. There is no need to be someone else, create something for everyone. Find your rarity, your exceptionalness, your authenticity, and create for your muse. The one who gets you. Storytelling sets you apart in the crowd. If you are looking to find the storyteller in you, there is no one else who has the same life experiences as you. If you can take someone on a visual journey, help someone find themselves in you, and create an arc of moments for them, you’ve done your job as a storyteller. :)If there is one thing you could action from this newsletter, what would it be? PS: I read all your replies :) Keep Finding Your Stories. Until next time, This is Vipasha signing off Whenever you are ready, here is how I can help you: |

Hi doston, Creatives have spent decades working on their craft. The 10000 hours of labour. This is our life’s work. To develop taste, to develop discernment. Creation is what comes out by surrendering to sacred work. The work that comes from intuitive intelligence. Unfortunately, it’s too late to fight against the Gen AI beast. We can’t undo time. We can only adapt to it. Instead of thinking what AI can do, think of what it can’t do. Move your career path as a creative in the following...
Hi Folks! I've been absconding for 2 months on the newsletter now. I am doing a no gatekeeping version of my first year without a 9-5 job. A lot of the readers on the newsletter want to make a career in writing and speaking and thought this breakdown might be helpful.
